Flash & The Pan
Probably not that well known outside of their native Australia, Flash & The Pan however were responsible for some brilliant Balearic style pop during the late 70s and 80s. Their first record Flash And The Pan released in 1978 was a minor hit in Europe and included some great tracks including the excellent ‘Walking In The Rain’, a simple eerie sounding pop tune with lead singer George Young’s unique voice creating the mood. The track was probably more well known for it’s cover by Grace Jones 3 years later on her Nightclubbing record. Another track on the album was ‘Hole In The Middle’ which was also released as a B-Side in the UK the same year. In 1982 Flash And The Pan released their 3rd LP; Headlines which included the awesome ‘Waiting For A Train’, another signature Flash & The Pan track with Young’s distinctive talking vocals. Next up their career highlight, the Balearic monster tune ‘Midnight Man’ released in 1984 on their Early Morning Wake Up Call LP, however this track is all about the extended 12” version, total euphoricness!!!
